About your trainer

Dogs are amazing companions and so much more. A dog can bring joy and healing, experienced throughout my 6 years in the Classroom Canine Program with my Therapy Dog, Autumn. Dogs also bring challenges. Students said they wished their dogs were more like Autumn and well behaved inside. Some kids were afraid of dogs and some had been bitten. That’s where my desire to help strengthen this inter-species relationship grew. To teach kids and parents safe ways to raise dogs, using the latest science. I personally wanted to learn a positive way to teach my dogs herding and address excessive barking in one of our dogs.
l qualified as a Dog Trainer with Delta, an industry leader in best practice and humane methods. I learned a scientific approach to teaching people and dogs how to communicate and nurture a trusting friendship. I was relieved to know how to apply this modern method and avoid the risks associated with using force or fear. I’m passionate about teaching effective, simple, fun, play-based alternatives that all ages can use with their dogs.
l enjoy herding with my Border Collies, teaching new life skills and going on “sniff walks” around our farm. All dogs teach and inspire me to be better. I’m committed to lifelong learning so l can address a new challenge with the latest research.
My Social Work experience equips me to empower people, listen to their needs, understand their goals and guide them to “parent” their dog by establishing a secure attachment. We all have different learning styles, diverse brain types and histories, so I adjust my approach to meet people where they are. I love helping pet parents see things from their dogs Pawspective so they can both thrive.Â
